BITCLIQ Forum 2026 – “Packaging, Data and Decision-Making at the Point of Consumption
The BITCLIQ Forum 2026 – “Packaging, Data, and Decision-Making at the Point of Consumption” – took place on May 20 at the GS1 Portugal offices in Lisbon. This event brought together companies and experts to discuss the future of packaging as a true data infrastructure within the agri-food supply chain.
The meeting provided a forum for debate on how digitization and traceability can enhance transparency, safety, and consumer confidence throughout the entire value chain.
The event also helped disseminate the results by showcasing the innovative Blockchain digitization and traceability solutions from “PPS14 – Farm2Fork Traceability” in a showroom. This project focused on transforming the agri-food value chain, with an emphasis on sustainability, traceability, and transparency. In parallel, some of the results from other subprojects of the Packaging of the Future® Mobilizing Agenda were also exhibited and presented.
In addition to the demonstration of Blockchain digital traceability, “Génio da Embalagem®” was also presented—one of the outputs of PPS14—a new virtual assistant based on artificial intelligence, capable of responding in real time to any question a consumer may ask about the product batch in question.
At the event, representatives from the organisations that contributed to the sub-project—led by Bitcliq in collaboration with Frutas Classe, the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria (MARE), the Egas Moniz Institute, Oonify and Thunder Foods—gave a presentation on the work carried out, demonstrating the project’s impact on their organisations and on the market.
The Project Management Team gave a presentation on the “Packaging of the Future” agenda, and NERLEI CCI, through its Executive Director, took part in the panel discussion “Digital Passport Product in the Agri-Food Sector: Mandatory transparency or strategic exposure?”, reaffirming its commitment to supporting the business community in adopting more sustainable packaging and in the sector’s digital transition.
