Double International Recognition for the 260g Glass Bottle

The 260G bottle, developed by Vidrala in collaboration with the LiDA Laboratory in Design and Arts at Politécnico de Leiria, as part of PPS04 – New glass packaging for more sustainable food and beverage products, under the Embalagem do Futuro® Mobilizing Agenda, has been honored with one of the most prestigious international awards, the Red Dot Design Award 2026, in the Packaging Design and Sustainable Design categories.

Weighing just 260 grams, made with up to 80% recycled glass, 30% lighter than a conventional bottle, and offering greater logistical efficiency, the 260G demonstrates that it is possible to combine design, sustainability, and industrial performance in a single solution.

Congratulations to all the teams involved in this achievement, which continues to position Portugal as a benchmark in innovation and sustainable design.

This international recognition reinforces the impact of collaboration between industry, academia, and applied innovation, showing how knowledge and creativity can accelerate the transition to more circular and sustainable solutions, and highlighting the importance and role of the Mobilizing Agendas.
