Embalagem do Futuro® “double” finalist in European sustainability competition
The Embalagem do Futuro® Agenda has been selected as a finalist in the 2026 Sustainability Awards, organised by Packaging Europe, in the “Thinking Big” category – one of the most prestigious international accolades in the field of packaging sustainability.
Also in the “Research and Development” category, the bio-coating for food contact on cardboard packaging, developed under PPS10 by CDRsp and MARE from the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, is a finalist. The PPS10 is a Embalagem do Futuro® subproject lead by Cartonarte.
This year’s edition, considered the most competitive ever, attracted 352 entries, from which an international jury of 63 experts selected the finalists.
This recognition reinforces the impact and international relevance of Embalagem do Futuro®, a Mobilising Agenda funded by the PRR that brings together 79 partners with the aim of transforming the packaging sector through sustainable innovation.
