Packaging of the Future at Osaka Expo 2025
The Green Agenda for Business Innovation – Packaging of the Future, led by VANGEST – Engenharia Financeira e Gestão, S.A., in close collaboration with NERLEI CCI, Instituto Politécnico de Leiria, and CIMRL, and with the support of INOVA+, was present on August 8 and 9 at the Portugal Pavilion at Expo Osaka 2025.

The moment was highlighted by the international presentation of Packaging of the Future and one of the project’s most emblematic outputs: the 260g wine bottle, considered the world’s lightest glass wine bottle, produced with up to 80% recycled glass.
This result was part of the exhibition “Meaningful Partnerships,” coordinated by LiDA – Laboratory for Research in Design and Arts at the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, which highlighted the essential role of design in transforming scientific and technological advances into solutions applied to everyday life.
This bottle, developed using advanced technological processes by Santos Barosa (Vidrala Group), in collaboration with LiDA – Laboratory of Design and Arts at the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, is a symbol of Portuguese innovation focused on sustainability.
With this international debut, the Packaging of the Future project reinforces its commitment to placing Portugal at the forefront of sustainable innovation, promoting business competitiveness and environmental responsibility.
