Packaging of the Future® at Packaging Innovations & Empack 2026

Packaging of the Future® was present on 11 and 12 February 2026 at the Packaging Innovations & Empack trade fair, held at the NEC Birmingham in the United Kingdom, which brought together thousands of professionals and specialists to share knowledge, trends and innovation in the packaging sector. This participation was promoted by NERLEI CCI – Associação Empresarial da Região de Leiria/Chamber of Commerce and Industry, reinforcing the association’s commitment to internationalisation and to strengthening the Portuguese packaging sector.

The companies Inova+ and AlmaScience joined NERLEI CCI’s delegation in this international promotion and dissemination initiative. The exhibition area showcased the products developed under the scope of Packaging of the Future®. The product developed in the PPS11 subprojects, led by ZØR Thermal, was recognised in the 2026 Innovation Gallery of Packaging Innovations & Empack UK as one of the 10 most outstanding innovations in Europe.

The Project Manager was part of the event’s official programme, participating in the smart-packaging session with the presentation “Packaging of the Future Project: Building a Digital, Sustainable and Circular Packaging Ecosystem at Scale”, integrated into the agenda dedicated to innovative solutions and emerging technologies for smart packaging. This contribution was an important opportunity to showcase the work carried out by the Packaging of the Future® consortium, particularly in creating more ecological, digital and circular solutions, as well as to promote the Portuguese packaging sector among international industry leaders and decision-makers.
