Packaging of the Future consortium member wins National Agriculture Prize 2024

On February 12, 2025, Frutas Classe S.A., one of the consortium members of the Packaging of the Future® Mobilizing Agenda, was awarded the 2024 National Agriculture Prize in the Process Innovation category. This award, organized by BPI bank and Medialivre, recognizes innovative and sustainable projects in the agricultural sector.

The “Strawberry 4.0” project, led by the company Bitcliq within the scope of PPS14 – Farm2Fork Digital Traceability, in addition to Blockchain digital traceability applied to the strawberry life cycle (production, packaging, packing and shipping), includes a digital product data sheet, accessible via the smart label, as well as the “Packaging Genie®”, a new virtual assistant based on artificial intelligence, which can answer any question the consumer asks about a particular batch of product, guaranteeing direct and transparent communication between the producer and the end consumer.

This recognition highlights Frutas Classe’s dedication to innovation and sustainability, reinforcing the importance of the Packaging of the Future for the future of the agricultural sector in Portugal, through the integration of innovative technologies to guarantee the efficiency and sustainability of operations.
