Packaging of the Future consortium member wins the Expo Fish Portugal 2025 Innovation Award

On December 10, 2025, PetriTag®—a biodegradable sensor for the early detection of bacterial contamination in fish packaging, developed by AlmaScience, a consortium member of Packaging of the Future—was awarded the Expo Fish 2025 Innovation Award in the New Equipment, Solutions, and Digital Services category.

This award, promoted by Docapesca, aims to recognize innovative projects and solutions with a significant impact on the seafood sector, highlighting contributions that promote modernization, safety, and sustainability in the value chain.

The distinction awarded to PetriTag highlights AlmaScience’s strong commitment to technological innovation and sustainability, as well as the strategic role of Packaging of the Future in transforming the maritime sector in Portugal. Through the integration of advanced technologies, the project contributes to strengthening operational efficiency, food safety, and environmental sustainability, responding to the current and future challenges of the industry.
